Designing Your Wedding Band
Custom-made jewelry doesn't necessarily mean wild and trendy. In fact, many people turn to designers for unique, personal pieces to celebrate special occasions like engagements and weddings.
The design process begins with you. What YOU want. If you have seen something you like in a magazine, bring it along, but I will try to suggest doing something a little bit different to it, something symbolic that relates to you.
Shop around, look through a few jewellery stores and see what designs catch your eye. Do not avoid the more expensive stores – as they provide an abundant source of ideas that can be used in the designing process. Keep a look out for a finish that you like, the way the stones are set, the height, the width, what stands out from the rest and inquire about it – ask what it is called, how it was achieved and the possible benefits / drawbacks of having it. Store these little mental design notes and write them down later. Bring these with you when you come in. Together we will sift through your ideas, pictures, drawings, notes, see what is compatible with your engagement ring and discard those that aren't. Together we will find the right combination that will enhance your engagement ring.
Designing your own wedding band is a rewarding experience, actively taking part allows you to incorporate all the personal features you want – width, metal, a combination of finishes, patterns and so on. The result is a piece of jewellery that can truly be called your own.
One thing to keep in mind: to custom make a wedding ring to fit into/with your engagement ring we will need your engagement ring for approx 4 weeks.
Custom making a wedding band involves making a wax to fit snuggly with your engagement ring. The wedding band should be the same depth as the engagement ring. It needs to look like it belongs. We cannot do that without your engagement ring.
